What is Suchan Sundays?
Long story short, it is a homage too my grandparents farm, the place of converging cuisines & cultures. Our Food is focused on ingredients of North/ South American origin & supporting local farms.
Growing up on my grandparents (The Suchans - SUE-HON) walnut farm, we had wild fruit, robust gardens, & happy animals. The most fresh, healthiest, zero processed ingredients that awakened my palate to unlimited different flavors.
Sundays were the peak of abundance, usually having celebrations with friends, family and our fellow ranchers. Everyone ranged from Latin America, California tribes, across the U.S & overseas and they elevated those fresh ingredients to their own cultures taste.
Steaming,Heaping Dishes were scattered among tables accompanied by a tortilla product. I was too young during those ranch days too understand the complexity & diversity but in result, a passion was developed for Latin cuisine.
Latin food too me is an indigenous traditional cuisine that at the roots of it proudly puts first the connection of food & life, which resonates deeper.
This is is my representation of Northern California with Latin Flavors in a handmade tortilla cup.
